A fascination with type

I first grew to love type working with my grandfather on his hand press whilst on holiday in Cornwall during my teenage years. My grandfather died in 2011, and when my grandmother followed him, I inherited a great number of printing books.

Today, I have been trying to sort a bookcase. Whilst on a break, I opened the book in which the pages above are found. They illustrate many sizes of the fount Garamond. It has long been one of my favourites. I particularly like the “Old Style”, non-lining figures.

I hope to read more of the Printing books as they will help me in the typesetting that I do.
